The Transition to College Summer Program (TCSP) is a pilot residential summer program developed by the Office of School Partnerships and Precollege Programs. The program was custom designed by experts to help first-year and transfer students prepare for and begin acclimating to college life before the fall semester begins.
Participants accepted into the program receive these benefits:
Early move-in: Participants will move in during the summer, getting a much less crowded and more quiet residential move-in experience.
Finish a required course: Students will take a course required for their degree, finishing before the fall semester even begins.
Academic skill building: TCSP programming will teach students the academic skills needed for college success.
Social connections: Not only will the less crowded and more quiet residential life over the summer allow for easier social connections, but TCSP will provide special opportunities to support forming strong social connections.
Campus resource education: Like a concierge for campus resources, students will learn about the wide variety of resources and programs available to support them.
How to get started:
Secure your spot—Fill out the form by 11:59 p.m. on April 15 to secure your spot. If you are able to register for the courses you're interested in, TCSP will reach out with next steps for housing and programming.
In addition to being able to get a required course out of the way before the fall semester starts, TCSP will give participants exclusive access to custom, expertly-created programming designed to support a smooth transition to a successful academic journey at IU Bloomington. This programming will include:
Tutoring and support: From specially trained, high achieving peers invested in mentoring new students in how to develop the skills needed to thrive in college life at IU Bloomington.
Resources for navigating life at IU Bloomington: TCSP will act as a campus concierge, providing students with insider knowledge about and help connecting with the wealth of campus resources available to them.
Introductions to academic resources: From cultural centers to libraries, there's no shortage of academic resources on campus. Students will learn about what academic resources are on campus, how to access them, and how to utilize them to support their specific academic journey.
Social events: Students will have special opportunities to form social connections at events crafted to help forge meaningful connections.
