Transition to College

Transition to College, a new department founded in 2024 by the Office of School Partnerships and Precollege Programs, helps new IU Bloomington students, both first-year and transfer, adjust to college life by developing and overseeing high-quality programming that aims to equip students with the skills needed to confidently begin a successful academic journey.

The following programs are available for incoming students in 2025. Students are welcome to participate in both for an even stronger start at IU Bloomington. 

TCSP is a new pilot summer residential program designed to help first-year and transfer students transition to college life at IU Bloomington. Participants enroll in a required course for their degree and benefit from specialized programming that supports a strong start to their academic journey.

IFS offers first-year students a chance to take a seminar-style course for credit in a supportive, immersive environment. The program takes place between the end of summer term and the start of fall semester, featuring a packed schedule of academic and social activities to help students build connections and adjust to college life.
