Experiential Learning Travel Scholarship
Offsets travel costs for undergraduate students taking part in an experiential learning activity or presenting their findings at a conference. Travel for students to attend a conference for professional development and networking may also be considered with faculty support.
Award amounts
The maximum award amounts in a single academic year are:
- $400 for in-state travel
- $800 for out-of-state travel
Application materials
Applicants are asked to submit a budget listing all travel costs, including lodging, meals, transportation, background checks, and/or registration fees. Verification of activity is also required and can be submitted through:
- a letter of support from a faculty mentor, or
- enrollment in a community engaged learning course with copy of syllabus detailing required costs.
Application deadline and eligibility
Funding for this scholarship is limited and awards are made on a rolling basis each semester until funds are exhausted. Applications usually take two weeks to review, and funding is provided about two weeks later for approved applications.
Any undergraduate student participating in an experiential learning activity is eligible to apply. Priority will be given to students involved in activities with limited funding opportunities, such as undergraduate research, creative projects, clinical/practicum experiences, and community-engaged learning. Students participating in other types of experiential learning should explore other funding options first.
Requirements of awardees
Students receiving this award will be required to submit a reflection essay within two weeks of returning from their travels.
